Lead System Engineer / Manager (m/f)

Earth Observation Satellites & Instruments

Our client is a successful, growing company within an European space technology group. The core business is set in development and production of complex systems for aerospace engineering. Its services range from studies and analyses, over product development and manufacture to test series and the implementation of missions.

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Thorough understanding and filling of the systems engineering role at satellite an mission level (combining satellite bus and optical payload, coordinating the interfaces to launcher and to ground segment, technical system representative to customer, acting as mission prime).
  • Profound experience of systems engineering processes and the aforementioned level. The goal is to phase in and take over the lead engineering and verification responsibility during the upcoming system CDR process, and technically manage the space segment part of that project during phase D and E trough MAIT, launch LEOP and operations.
  • Experience in Space Optics and Optical Instruments and in handling of high performance Earth observation instruments as payload of an advanced Earth observation mission.
  • Experienced management and technical control of an engineering team at system level, personal integrity in delegating and monitoring systems engineering tasks, harmonizing the interaction between the involved parties (in cooperation with established subcontractor management)
  • Fundamental knowledge of system engineering guidelines (e.g. ECCS etc.) and their tailoring for optimizing efforts, the willingness to familiarize with existing in-house standards and to contribute to further improvement of processes and procedures in a growing company environment.
  • Understanding himself as a team player within the project management & administration and in cooperation with PA/QA management an the AIT department.
  • Pertinacity and assertiveness in clarifying questionable/ deciding open technical issues as final technical management instance
  • Solid heritage/ background in the system engineering main fields (e.g. Integration & Control, Requirements, Analysis, Design & Configuration incl. I/F's, Verification) and their interaction with neighbouring disciplines (e.g. management, development & MAIT, operations & logistics and product assurance).

Ihr Profil

  • Degree in engineering, physics or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years of professional experience in a technical lead function
  • Ideally work experience on DLR or ESA satellite development projects or commercial satellite projects.
  • Experience in Space Optics and Optical Instruments and in handling of high performance Earth observation instruments
  • Accustomed in work and teams and make decisions
  • Well skilled and confident negotiator with well-developed communication skills
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills as well as a good knowledge of process management/ analysis.
  • Fluency in English is required
